Job description

We are working on behalf of a leading Oil Major who are currently looking to expand their Carbon Trading & Origination capabilities in London.
 
 
Job Responsibilities:
  • Scan voluntary market opportunities, identify short list, initiate negotiations including due diligence and secure long term diversified reliable forward volumes
  • Follow relevant legislation (voluntary standards, Rulebook article 6 guidance, CORSIA etc) and incorporate into contractual templates
  • Maintain good relationships with project developers, standards, exchanges and relevant forums
  • Provide advice to regionally owned assets to lower compliance costs for the group
  • Assist in all relevant approvals process
  • Set up OTC counterparties, brokers and relevant exchanges
  • Operate within approved risk framework
  • Participate in networking events (exchanges, brokers and conferences)
  • Accurately update the relevant trading system in a timely fashion
 
Qualification Requirements
 
Education/ Qualifications:
  • Qualifications: Master’s degree is preferred.
 
Skills, Experience & Competencies:
  • Over 5 years’ experience with profitable track record within oil, utility, project developer or banking industry
  • Large network within project developer community
  • Thinking out of the box, understanding long term complex risks and relevant contractual language
  • Detailed knowledge of various standards (Goldstandard, VERRA, ACR and CAR) and relevant procedures
  • On top of regulation impacting carbon markets
  • Technical knowledge of project types is a pre
  • Eager to assist in developing a truly global carbon business
  • Teamwork – Fosters ethical business relationships with customers, suppliers and co-workers. Works effectively with peers, customers and management. Maintains a positive attitude
  • Communication– Clearly presents thoughts and ideas, both orally and in writing.
  • Organisation – Exhibits highly organised approach to detailed work. Maintains accurate and effective files
  • Multi-Tasking abilities – Proactively manages multiple, time sensitive tasks simultaneously and under pressure.
  • Analytical/problem solving – Thinks and manages problems and tasks through to completion. Evaluates and understands financial impact of decisions/activities.
  • Knowledge and experience in IT including Microsoft Office
