Our client is Australia and New Zealand’s leading retail partner and wholesale distributor to the grocery, liquor, and hardware sectors. This ASX listed property group asset manages all its properties in-house and has a significant portfolio of freehold and leasehold interests in the commercial, industrial and retail sectors.
The Role:
We are currently seeking a Property Accountant to lead the accounting process across our clients lease portfolio. This exciting opportunity requires strong attention to detail to ensure accurate remittance and billing and that they comply with all accounting standards and practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the accounting process across our clients lease portfolio in compliance with accounting standards.
Manage the monthly lease accounting close process.
Maintain the lease management software ensuring accuracy and completeness of data.
Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly journal entries and account reconciliations.
Ensure the preparation of financial statements and disclosures related to leases.
Be a key point of contact with landlords and subtenants for lease billing matters.
Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly journal entries and account reconciliations.
Ensure the correct issue of rent invoices and accuracy of rent reviews (i.e. CPI/ fixed rent review).
Collecting insurance documentation from sublessees.
Preparation of a monthly tenancy schedule and ad-hoc reports.
Key Skills:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field.
1-2 years of experience in commercial lease accounting.
Strong technical knowledge of lease accounting standards (IFRS 16 and ASC 842).
Ability to communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
