Job description

We are working on behalf of a leading oil major who are currently looking for an experienced LNG trader to join their team in Singapore.
 
Responsibilities
  • Negotiates, manages and executes trades in physical markets which enable the business to maintain portfolio balance within internal risk and deal approval limits
  • Coordinates the involvement of expert advice (e.g. legal, risk, financial) in the analysis and development of trading proposals such that value can be maximized and risks mitigated
  • Lead contract negotiations with counterparties which achieve the commercial objectives approved by senior management
  • Maintain and verify accurate trade entries, monitor profit and loss, and prepare market reports.
  • Make sensible revenue-generating decisions on the optimal purchase timings, quantities and delivery modes based on sound judgement and justified recommendations.
  • Develop and execute successful negotiation strategies for closing short and long-term profitable LNG deals for the organization.
  • Conduct market analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks in the LNG market, including monitoring supply and demand dynamics, regulatory changes, and geopolitical factors that could impact LNG prices
  • Analyses portfolio optimization opportunities both via internal portfolio changes and via external trading opportunities to increase P&L and/or reduce risk
Required experience
  • A bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline related to the gas industry or in a finance/economics related subject
  • Exposure to the full range of functions of a gas trading desk including leading negotiations with counterparties. Proven track record of working on an LNG Trading desk
  • Highly numerate able to conduct complex economic and financial modelling
  • Experience of working with Commodity/Energy Trading and Risk Management (C/ETRM) systems to represent intricate commodity positions.
  • Entrepreneurial, profit focused individual and able to perform under intense pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Decisive individual with excellent analytical skills who possesses exceptional attention to details, especially with numbers
