DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR (Industrial & Commercial) – Sydney/Melbourne

Our client is a tier 1 Investment Group based in Sydney who boast an enviable track record of delivering major real estate precincts and projects across the country, via both direct ownership and capital partnerships. This group has run a series of highly successful logistics projects and they hold a clear strategy of development focused growth with pipeline emerging in mixed-use and commercial office.

As a Development Director, you will take control using your experience to manage all aspects of the assigned development program to achieve the best outcome for the group and its partners. In addition to your high level of technical expertise, you will require significant leadership and stakeholder ability to achieve the desired outcomes, including growing, managing, and driving a high performing team.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage all aspect of the development portfolio on a national basis, including overseeing staff activity and resource allocation for projects, selection and management of external consultants, as well as recruitment of development team;
  • Direct responsibility for the management and technical delivery oversight of a major logistics portfolio in excess of $2bn;
  • Monitor and manage project risks, costs management ensuring delivery to budgets and assisting to drive the masterplan;
  • Assisting with major lease negotiations and pre-development leasing strategies, responding to tenant requests, negotiating AFL/Leases;
  • Oversee all relevant project stakeholders during the execution of the project, including being the chair of major/key project PCG meetings, as well as fostering robust capital partner relations and managing government stakeholders;
  • Oversee the formulation of the strategic asset plans and delivery of the same for development projects in designated portfolio;
  • Oversight of the P&L and business case for the developments and prepare monthly reports as required;
  
Requirements:
‐ Degree qualified in Property Economics, Construction, Finance, Engineering or equivalent field;
‐ Strong track record within industrial focused development management and projects, resource allocation and reporting;
‐ Strong people skills and can manage ambiguity and changes effectively;
‐ Strong compliance and safety knowledge;
‐ Current working knowledge of the NSW planning environment;
‐ Ability to manage multiple projects and clients and meet shifting priorities and deadlines;
‐ Excellent written and oral presentation skills;
‐ Intermediate to advanced level in core Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
